My home resort, Holiday Valley, is hosting another Boarding For Breast Cancer event this year and I’m really excited to go! I’m definitely doing the ‘Learn to Park’ clinic this year! I can only imagine how many times I’m going to fall while attempting to learn boxes and rails but I don’t care. It’s going to be awesome. Definitely breaking out the heavy duty butt pads that day…
There’s also going to be an all girls “Breast Trick” competition. Hilarious! I think it’s amazing that B4BC puts together events like this to not only support cancer awareness and prevention, but to support female riders in general. Guys definitely dominate the snow sports scene, especially in snowboarding. So I’m really excited to support and be a part of events like this. Snowboarding is a huge part of my life. Up until a few years ago I suffered from the worst seasonal depression. I HATED winter. I don’t ever use the word hate, but I mean I HATED winter. One Fall I decided enough was enough. I was determined to find some way to get out and learn to love the snow. So I bought a snowboard and made up my mind that I was going to become a snowboarder. Mission accomplished! I got my boyfriend (who used to teach and compete!) as well as my whole family back into snow sports. It’s a really amazing feeling to take charge of your own happiness.
