Now that my Pastille is finished, I’m starting to really focus on Julia Bobbin’s Mad Men Dress Challenge! I’ve been re-watching episodes on my lap top and taking screen shots trying to pick my very favorite dress. It’s so hard to choose! Here are just a few that really caught my eye…

Peggy’s pink gingham day dress is right up my ally! Plus, with spring right around the corner, I’d love to add a dress like this to my closet.
This dress is so wonderfully simple and classy! Yellow is my favorite color, and I’ve been known to put a button on anything and everything I can. I think that’s what draws me to this dress so much. I have a bunch of projects planned for March, along with sewing for the Queen City Craft Fair, so I think simple might be the best option for me and my Mad Men dress.

I saw this dress and had a mini “OMG” moment when I realized we carry almost that exact print at the shop where I work!! How perfect is that?! The fabric match alone makes me feel a serious need to recreate this dress. Like, NEED.
I love Joan’s wardrobe on the show, but when it comes down to it, I just feel way more comfortable in A-line dresses. I can’t tell you how tempted I was to turn the fitted bottom of my Pastille into a big poofy circle skirt! But, I figured in the spirit of the Sew-along, I should probably keep it recognizable as a Pastille. Oh Joan, if only I could rock a wiggle dress like you do!
Betty also wears a ton of super cute A-line summer dresses that I love, but in my mind these 3 stand out the most! Hmm… guess I’ll just have to watch more episodes before I choose.
Is anyone else participating in the challenge? What Mad Men dresses do you love?
Happy Monday All!

That pink dress would be oh-so-cute on you! Plus the button tab details are adorable (and would be easy to draft!)!
I do love the pink dress!! I’m going with Trudy’s dress for the challenge since I found a pattern that will work perfectly for it and time is an issue for me in March. But! That same pattern will also work well for Peggy’s dress, and when I have a bit more time, I definitely plan to recreate that one!! I love the buttons and tabs so much. Plus who doesn’t love pink gingham?!
My favorite is the red one, but I have a feeling you could totally rock the yellow one, the fit for it requires a long slender body, which you totally have! Yellow is not only spring but summer too!
Three great choices!!!
Helloo! I’ve just stumbled upon your blog recently and am in love. Your Pastille dress is simply adorable.
I’m also participating in Julia’s Mad Men challenge and am so excited! I’ve picked a Joan dress as my inspiration, but had fully anticipated going with a Trudy or Betty dress (I love a-line and twirly skirts!). I’d even had Trudy’s day dress on my list of inspiration, and, had I come across that perfect fabric you found, I just might have ended up picking it.
There’s no chance you could go wrong with the inspiration you’ve got. Can’t wait to see what you end up creating!
Hi Sue! Thanks so much for taking the time to say hello, it really makes my day! I can’t wait to see which Joan dress you’ve picked, she has so many good ones! p.s. I’m checking out your blog now…
Lady, firstly – great screen shot work. Very fancy indeed.
Secondly I am in LOVE (in that slightly over-the-top awkward way) with your Mad Men dress choices. I too want that yellow dress like yesterday. How the heck is one to choose? I need to call in sick for a month straight so I can catch up on my list of ‘to-sew’. It’s making me break out into a rash.Love your blog too x

Why thank you!! I wish I could get a better shot of Trudy’s dress, but she’s in the scene for such a short period of time. I keep joking that picking a Mad Men dress to re-create is that hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life! (totally kidding) But it sure feels like it haha!
It really makes my day that you enjoy my blog
It’s no secret I heart yours too!!
