Northeast Street Rod Show

William, my brother, and I spent our afternoon at NSRA’s Street Rod Nationals held at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, Vermont. I’m not really a fan of cars unless they’re classic, so as soon as I heard about the show I knew we had to go! And let me tell you, it was awesome!!

I had plans to wear a circle skirt that I made until I tried it on and realized it was way too big. (That’s what I get for not stay stitching the waist!!) So plan B was this beautiful vintage dress given to me by my aunt. I got a lot of compliments on it. One woman said my outfit was adorable and I looked like I came straight out of a movie haha! It was funny to think that this dress once belonged to my aunt’s grandmother and is just as old as some of these cars.

I don’t pretend to know anything about cars mechanically, but that didn’t stop me from “ooh-ing” and “ahh-ing” over all the fancy paint jobs, pin stripes, and hood ornaments!

I found a petticoat to go under my dress and I swear I want to wear one everyday! I love the froof!

I think this was my favorite car of the day. It’s so beautiful! We’d go well together wouldn’t you agree? Hey, a girl can dream.

So what did you do this weekend?

  • The froof is great :))
These photos are so beautiful, even though they are cars it feels just like looking at beautiful garments… it’s inspiring (is that a crazy thing to say?)

  • The dress is gorgeous, and the petticoat just makes it even more wow – love it!

  • Julia Diamente

These photos are amazing! You look gorgeous as always, and it looks like you had a great day!
    Love Julia Bobbin x

Oh, I’ll happily take the pink Ford Fairlane, please! What a super fun day and I LOVE your outfit!

  • Miss Crayola Creepy

Yeah, I don’t know a thing about cars!! I just know which ones are “cute.” hahah.

    Love the photos!

  • beautiful pictures! and that petticoat looks to be just the right amount of oomph!

  • Maddie964

You and that car definitely go together! One hundred percent! I was wondering how your skirt was “poofing” out and then you spilled the beans – a petticoat. I’ve never worn one but from the looks of your photos, I think I should!

    • Yeah I love that car!! It’s a 1950s Oldsmobile Rocket (I think). That just sounds like a cool car to have lol. The petticoat I’m wearing is a super cheap one so it’s kinda itchy. I didn’t want to pay a lot of money for one and then never wear it, but now that I know how awesome they are I want a nice soft one!

  • I love your dress and the petticoat! My dad is building a hot rod right now, and I grew up going to car shows, they are so much fun!

This weekend I took a lesson to learn how to use MY NEW SERGER!!! (I’m still SO excited about this) and then I traced off some patterns, and put together my first ever knit project! I was kind of a hermit…

    • That’s so cool! What kind of car? I’m really in the market for a new serger myself. Let me know what you think of yours, and how your knit project turned out!

  • sallieforrer

Ah this looks like so much fun! I’ve never been to one of those classic car shows, but I love how you can always tell when one is happening because all of a sudden you see all these beautiful cars tooling down the highway… And you do look perfectly the part in your vintage and floofy petticoat! They should have paid you to stand next to those cars! You make them look goooooood!

    • That’s so funny you mention that because that’s actually how we found out there was a show going on! Haha! And thank you, you’re much too sweet 🙂

  • poppykettle

The poof factor is delish 🙂 As are all those cars! So gorgeous 🙂

  • LOOOOOOVE these cars… you definitely need one! 😉

    • Uhg, I know, right?! I live on this crazy not so well maintained road with no garage right now, so there’s no way I’d buy such a gorgeous car and then bang it up like that lol. But someday I would loooovvvveee to have one!
