Pleasure to meet you

So this past Sunday was nido’s 3rd anniversary party. (I took a lot of great photos of the event that I’m hoping to post soon!) It was a great night all around, but especially great because I got to meet Rae Hoekstra of Made-by-Rae!

We’re both wearing Rae’s Washi Dress pattern which, if you haven’t made yet, IS AWESOME!! There are really flattering pleats and darts in the front, with elastic shearing in the back to give it a fantastic fit with no zippers or fastners needed! Genius really. It’s only available as a PDF download, but in all honesty it’s worth the extra effort it takes to print and tape together!! I love this dress! I’ll be sure to share more details on it later…

Rae spoke a bit on pattern making and her process of how the Washi Dress came to be. It was truly inspiring to hear since I’d love to have patterns of my own some day! A girl can dream, right? Rae is such a nice person and it was a real pleasure to meet her. Not to mention she made me feel extra special with all the nice compliments she gave me on my version of her dress :)

Who’s your sewing inspiration?

How fun! Your dress is way cute! Hmm.. I’d say Jen at Grainline is one of my serious sewing inspirations, ooh, and Sallie Oh!

Thanks! And yes I enjoy both of those blogs very much. Sallie Oh’s handmade jeans are ultra amazing.
