Sew Colette October Project: Peony

Next up in Sew Colette is the Peony Dress! This is a beginner pattern with tons of potential and room to really make it your own. Would you like to sew along with us?

All you need to do is join the Sew Colette Flickr Group, get your pattern and materials, and then check in with Erin, Sarah, and myself for some gentle instruction along the way. Speaking of materials, Harts Fabric has been so gracious as to sponsor the Peony Sew Along! Stay tuned for more details on that.

The schedule for October is as follows:

Week of October 1st: Sew-Along Kick-Off (Muslins, measurements, etc)
Week of October 8th: Fabulous Fit
Week of October 15th: It’s All About Fabric!
Weeks of October 22nd – 31st: Be Our Guest
Week of November 5th: Peony Parade – be sure to upload your finished dress to theΒ Flickr group!

This will be your last chance to sew with us until the new year! We’ll be taking a break after Peony to concentrate on holiday sewing projects. I know I’ll need the extra time!

I really hope you’ll join us πŸ™‚

I’m definitely going to join this one! I made this dress recently and have the worst pointy bits. And that was after making a muslin. I need help with the SBA please…….

  • OK, it’s completely cheating, but I think maybe I’ll use this opportunity to finish the Peony I started last year (I was rushing to finish a dress to wear on Christmas, and I sliced into the bodice and was too deflated to fix it– sad!). I really like this pattern, but I haven’t quite worked out all the fitting kinks, so maybe it would be fun to try a new version, too!

So I’ve had this pattern for over a year and I, for some reason, have still yet to sew it up. I’ve twiddled with the bodice but I found it challenging to get just right. This is of course JUST the excuse I need to get my butt in gear and finally make it up. πŸ™‚
