Creativebug Quilt Market Field Report

I’m making it my life goal to make it to International Quilt Market someday. Why? Well because it’s amazing!! Cotton is my absolute favorite fabric to sew with, so naturally I’m mildly obsessed with modern quilting cottons. Creativebug put together this beautiful drool worthy video featuring some of the biggest names at the show. Did you know Amy Butler’s husband is also a fabric designer?! How cool is that!

Are you inspired yet?!

If you’re not familiar with Creativebug yet, it’s a subscription based website that gives you access to some incredible workshops of all creative kinds. I’m really looking forward to taking Gertie’s Peasant Dress Class after my craft fair. Despite the serious temptation, I am trying to be disciplined and not do any personal sewing until after the craft fair. Soon though!

Wow – I was JUST at that convention center not two weeks ago for a huge art fair for work and I have to say… it looks so much nicer filled with fun cottons and sewing/quilting booths than it does filled with art!! Ha! Okay, my bitterness aside, I was actually up in Houston this week buying fabric and I saw a big sign for the Quilt Market and I felt horribly guilty because I knew there was someone like you that would give your eyeteeth to go there and here I was barely even knowing it was going on! Perhaps next year we can do a house swap – You can hang at the beach and drive on up to Houston for the Quilt Market, and I’ll get a dose of New England early winter to fill my homesick bones!

Sometimes I feel like a chump because all my garment sewing is done with quilting fabric haha! I can’t help it, I just love cotton! Especially rainbow colored giant print cotton. It’s like candy lol. Don’t tempt me with a house swap!!

I'm a fabric wizard and wielder of needles with a passion for quilt industry cottons, bygone eras, and natural things.

i.e. I mostly do nerd things like pretend I'm a wizard, collect moldy books, and spend too much time picking up acorns in the woods, all with my spirit animal (a dog named Lucille), my personal photographer (a man named William), and a few literal fat cats in tow.

Making magic and messes in the backwoods of New York.
