Peony Parade Wrap Up

Well this is the end of the Peony Sew Along. Thank you to everyone who participated and joined in! Erin, Sarah, and myself will be taking a break from Sew Colette in order to concentrate on holiday sewing, but will pick back up in the Spring of 2013 (just in time for Colette’s Palette Challenge!). We’ll be doing things a little differently this time around. Each of us will lead a different sewing project independently, but during the same time frame. This will give you a better chance to sew the project you voted for since we’ll be picking 3 winning patterns instead of one, plus each sew-along will be much more structured and simplified. One project in one place. Got it? Good! I can’t wait to pick back up in a few months!

Okay, on with the parade!

You all know I’m a fan of quilting cotton, so I definitely am a fan of this beautiful Peony by Sew Hopeful! The fitting adjustments and lapped zipper make this dress looks especially tailored and perfectly polished. Well done!

Gorgeous view, isn’t it?! No not the scenery, I mean this picturesque yellow Peony by Sew Busy Lizzy!! I love the little added details like the underlined eyelet fabric and the piped waistband. It’s the quintessential summer dress! Beautiful!

On the opposite end of the seasonal spectrum, we have the perfect fall/winter Peony by Guineveresmom! I love rich textured fabrics in deep colors. Paired with boots and a belt, this Peony version is ultra chic!

Great job ladies! Be sure to check out more dresses featured on Days One, Two, Three, and Four!

Stay tuned for a great giveaway from Hart’s Fabric to wrap up the sew-along!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

(so many exclamation points!!!!!)

Thank you Rochelle for your lovely words about my efforts. I really appreciate it. I was worried to use quilting cotton as I had read a lot of sewers don’t like it but I found it amazing to sew and it works perfectly for this dress, so I think I will join you as a quilting cotton fan! Plus excited about the new format for next year. Only problem is what if I want to sew all 3 at the same time. LOL. I guess I’ll be busy but really looking forward to joining in again. I loved doing the Peony with everyone, it made such a difference to my finished dress. So thanks everyone as well.

I love sewing with quilting cotton. I can’t help it! I really hope you’ll sew along with us this spring! It will be really hard to pick just one pattern, but it will be so much easier for everyone to follow along on just one blog per project :)

I'm a fabric wizard and wielder of needles with a passion for quilt industry cottons, bygone eras, and natural things.

i.e. I mostly do nerd things like pretend I'm a wizard, collect moldy books, and spend too much time picking up acorns in the woods, all with my spirit animal (a dog named Lucille), my personal photographer (a man named William), and a few literal fat cats in tow.

Making magic and messes in the backwoods of New York.
