Spring Sewing Obsession: Peg Pants and Cami Tops

The past few days have been unseasonably warm which is triggering a serious bout of Spring Sewing Fever. Most of the patterns on my #2017MakeNine list are more suited for cool weather, I guess that happens when you build your list in January, so I’m thinking I might make a second mood board specifically for Spring and Summer. Right now I’m totally obsessed with two things: Peg Pants and Camisole tops.

I can’t remember the last time I wore or even owned a pair of paperbag/peg pants and a camisole but I’ve been seeing that outfit combo everywhere and I can’t stop thinking about recreating a me-made version! I love how effortlessly comfortable and polished those two pieces look together, like wearing pajamas that don’t look like pajamas – Secret pajamas! I want a closet full of secret pajamas!

I’ve been on an epic knit-sewing streak lately which is awesome because I’ve been SO productive with such speedy projects, like leggings and t-shirts (I think I have 5 or 6 un-blogged finished projects now!), but it’s been a long time since I’ve sewn anything garment related with wovens and I’m starting to miss it.

Last year I bought a few rayon and voile fabrics that I haven’t sewn anything with yet and I’m thinking a Cami will be perfect to finally use those lone pieces up.

I’ve got my eye on the Ogden Cami by True Bias and the Alexandria Peg Pants by Named. I’m not allowing myself to buy those patterns until I check a few things off my to-do list, I work best with a reward system (I mean who doesn’t), but soon! Soon all of my Spring/Summer Secret Pajama sewing schemes will be underway!

I realize it’s only February and we often get random snows in April here in Upstate New York so I probably won’t be wearing a camisole/peg pants outfit combo as soon as I’d like but there’s nothing wrong with being prepared, right?

What’s on your Spring obsession sewing list?

  • Secret pajamas are always a great idea 🙂 This is a nice combination because it looks super laid back and chic at the same time!

    Love it! Sewing

  • I’m getting very curious about Ogden. It would be so heavenly in rayon challis or silk! I love the Luna pants – no fussy pieces 🙂
