Pastille Croquis

This is my little digital croquis attempt for project two in the Colette Sew-along! I’ve decided after my first muslin top that the sleeves are definitely not for me. They look so cute on the model in the book, but look like football shoulder pads on my small frame. I’m hoping to wear this dress to a wedding next month and since it will be cold still, I’ll  be wearing a cardigan over it, making no sleeves at all a better option I think. I also want to fancy it up a bit by adding a HUGE sash to the waist that ties in the back. With a real big bow. Who doesn’t love a giant bow?! Also, instead of the little neckline bow that’s included with the pattern, I’m going to go with two small buttons. I’m also a fan of buttons don’tchya know.

Normally I buy all my fabric from the little shop where I work, but quilting cotton or linen wasn’t what I had in mind for this dress so I headed off to Joann’s with my handy smart phone coupon app in tow. I went with a fun springy cotton poplin by Lisette. (On sale!!) Did I mention my friend is getting married on St. Patricks Day and everyone has to wear green? Yeah, pretty awesome. I’m hoping to whip up a Negroni shirt for Liam to wear too. Maybe even in the same fabric so we’re all matchy matchy. Orrrrr maybe that’s lame. …we’ll see.

This was my first actual croquis attempt. If I learned anything, I learned I need new bras STAT. My current one is about a million years old is doing absolutely nothing for my mathematically mythical figure! (Thanks Mom!!) The proximal half of this girl’s hour glass needs to go shopping. Like, big time.

I can’t wait to see what everyone else has planned for theirs! I’m absolutely loving this sew-along! I know I’ve said that like 20 million times already but it’s true!

Happy Monday All!!

I'm a fabric wizard and wielder of needles with a passion for quilt industry cottons, bygone eras, and natural things.

i.e. I mostly do nerd things like pretend I'm a wizard, collect moldy books, and spend too much time picking up acorns in the woods, all with my spirit animal (a dog named Lucille), my personal photographer (a man named William), and a few literal fat cats in tow.

Making magic and messes in the backwoods of New York.
