Completed: Simplicity 2224

Well, it’s almost a Simplicity 2224. I’ve had this pattern in my stash forever, and seem to have lost every piece except the skirt front and side panel. I had to make my own waist band and pockets, but essentially it’s the same skirt as pictured.

The fabric I used has also been in my stash forever. It’s a linen/rayon blend from Joann Fabrics. I’m not sure why the rayon was added since it still wrinkles super easily, but it’s comfortable and I actually love the wrinkles! They make it look more like real linen 😉

I finished this skirt last week, but hadn’t gotten around to posting the photos yet. My bad.

I can’t take myself seriously when I try to pose…

There, that’s more like me! Stick mustache! This skirt is definitely awesome for frolicking and playing with sticks.

See! Who doesn’t love a good stick?! Yeah, yeah, I know. Simple minds = simple pleasures. Whatevs. I make my own fun!

I put the draw string in the back because it thought it was more cute that way, but it’s totally reversible if I ever decide otherwise.

Ho hum la dee da. Just a girl floppin’ around in a handmade skirt. No big deal.

In other news: Next week I’m super excited to be sitting in on a “Start your own Small Business” seminar!! That’s right! This past year I’ve been kinda testing the handmade waters by selling a few things on Etsy, and at a local craft fair. I wanted to take is suuuuper slow and not let myself get overwhelmed or burnt out. But now I’m ready to do this small business thing full force, you guys! I’m getting my LLC, re-branding a teeny tiny bit, learning how to write a business plan, hiring a professional to re-design my website, the whole nine yards. I’m sticking with smaller accessories for now, but in the future I’d love to make clothing as well. I added a little newsletter sign up in my side bar, so feel free to add yourself to the list if you’d like to stay up to date on that whole process! I’m going to hold off on all my promised tutorials until the new site launches. I want it to be awesome and worth the wait!

Next up for Sew Colette: The Macaron Dress!

Stay tuned!
